Are you looking for a way to get more out of your Mac? We offer Mac Basics to get you up to speed on your Mac.

Mac Basics is ideal for 'Switchers' and really anyone who wants to maximize his or her knowledge on the computer. Browse course curriculum, dates, times and locations below, then sign up for your class of choice!

Have a specific question? In addition to our course offerings, we now offer up to a half-hour in-store one-on-one "lesson" with a Certified Apple Product Professional for $39.99. This is perfect if you just have that one pesky issue to resolve.

Mac Basics

New to Macs? Switching over from a Windows-based PC? Never used a computer before? Our Absolute Mac Basics class is designed strictly for beginners: you'll learn the essential skills needed to get you up and running on your new machine. Mac Basics is led by a certified Apple Professional.

Use this class to:
  • Quickly become familiar and comfortable with your new Mac and working within the OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and 10.7 Lion operating systems.
  • Utilize System Preferences to configure and customize your machine.
  • Learn the basics two essential elements of the Mac: the Dock and the Finder.
  • Understand how menus work.
  • Know how to get more information about folders and files.
  • Learn useful, everyday Mac tips and tricks.
  • Know where to go for more information.

At the end of the session there will be time for questions. The instructor will demonstrate the class on a large monitor; there is no need to bring your own computer. The instructor will also provide take-home material, including a summary of the class.

Registration Details & Class Size:

Class registrations are subject to availability. Pre-registration with payment is required for every class. Enrollment to classes is accepted in the order in which it is received. Twelve people may be admitted per class. It is strongly recommended that you sign up for classes in advance, as they sometimes sell out quickly. If a class is sold out, we will help you reschedule for a later class.

Cancellation & Refund Policy:

If you are unable to attend a class in which you are enrolled, please provide at least five business days advance notice. Classes canceled before five days may be rescheduled to a later class of your choice, or refunded minus 15%. Refunds are not given on classes canceled fewer than five days before a class, including for individuals who fail to show for a class.

Class registration may be canceled by calling 802-496-7171. Any Small Dog Electronics employee can help you reschedule or cancel a class registration. You may also cancel or reschedule a class at either of our retail stores.

Small Dog Electronics reserves the right to cancel classes due to low enrollment or circumstances beyond our control. If Small Dog Electronics cancels a class, registered attendees have the option to sign up for a new class or receive a full refund. Small Dog Electronics will provide two days notice in the event of a canceled class.
